The newest location of Caliente is a multi-million-dollar remodeled facility in the Pueblo Amigo center, within easy walking distance of the International Border. The massive facility is still home to greyhound racing and the site also includes the home stadium for the Xolos de Tijuana professional soccer club. The luxurious and contemporary décor resembles the sport bars from Las Vegas with large screen TVs, an array of sports memorabilia, a full bar and multiple dining options. Dubbed The Caliente Sports Bar, there are both racing and sports books and an intimate VIP onsite casino. It has over a dozen casinos of different sizes. In Tijuana, the Caliente brand is the only player. In 2008, casinos were once again made legal. That era ended in 1938 when gambling became illegal in Mexico.
Wealthy Americans and Hollywood celebrities flocked to Agua Caliente. It was a lavish resort where Americans could enjoy drinking, gambling and horse racing while those activities were illegal in United States. In this city, the gaming attraction started in 1928 when the Agua Caliente Casino and Resort opened its doors.
